Got Teal? I sure do!

Hey all!
Well it's happened.. I have caught the DIY nail decal bug!  They are so cute and super easy!

Basically what you do is get a plastic baggie, or some baking paper, and paint squares of nail polish on them. Make sure they are opaque, so a polish that is opaque in no more than 2 coats is best, as you don't want them too thick.  I realized after these are too small.. next time I will make my squares about 3 cms or a bit bigger.
Wait for them to dry.. and this is the hard part, for me anyway as I have no patience.. lol   I found it best to do them at night, then go to bed and let them dry overnight. That way I wasn't checking them every 2 seconds to see if they were dry.  ;)
Once they are dry, I run one side of my tweezers under one edge of the polish to separate from my baggie (or baking paper if that's what you use) and gently lift it up.  Use a craft punch (can be bought at most craft stores) to to punch out the shapes you want.  And voilĂ !  DIY nail decals!

I put on my base coat, waited until it was dry than a layer of my top coat, placed my decals and then waited a few minutes before adding another layer of top coat.   I love how these look!
My base and decal colour is Ulta3 Get Teal, and my accent nail colour is LOL (Kmart brand) In The Deep. I was quite impressed with the Kmart polish and will definitely be getting more!
I did not come up with this idea.  I used a combo of tutorials from DQN, Ten Little Nubs and Oh My Gosh Polish.
Have you ever made your own nail decals?

New Years Eve!

Well, it's not quite yet thankfully, but I do have the perfect nail polish to wear when it does arrive...  Ulta3 New Years Eve!  Gorgeous blue glitterness.. yes, that's a word.  ;)

Isn't it beautiful!  I have it layered over Ulta3 Calypso Holiday.. and each bottle only costs $2.  Bargain!  Some of the pics are blurry, as its hard to capture the glitteryness.  ;)
I have seen New Years Eve compared to Picture Perfects new Splash, and honestly they look exactly the same to me.   I would much rather spend $2 on Ulta3 than $10 on Splash!

NOTD: Frog Prince

Hi all!

Hope your having a great week.. ours has been lovely and quiet for the most part.  Too hot to do anything.. Tuesday was 37 degrees Celsius!  That's approx 99 degrees Fahrenheit.  Ugh!

Today I have gone for sparkly nails...  Vernis Classique by Cherimoya 'Heart Of The Sea' over Ulta3 'Frog Prince'.

I love how sparkly, and slightly Christmassy, this looks!
The Ulta3 Frog Prince was quite a goopy consistency, I found it couldn't wait to settle down the sides of my nails.  I love the colour though, will definitely use again.    Vernis Classique by Cherimoya 'Heart Of The Sea' has small blue love hearts in it, but they are quite sparse.  I had to really fish for them, and as you can see, I'm no fisherman (fisherwoman?  ;)   ).
I'm very happy with how it turned out though!

Revlons Whimsical

Hey all!
I am super excited about the polish I will be showing you today.. Revlons Whimsical.  I have been after this beautiful polish for quite a while, so when I had the opportunity to get it I grabbed 2 bottles.  :)
Whimsical has a very, very sheer light blue jelly base with pink and light blue hex glitter, and small blue glitter.  So pretty!
It's definitely a layering polish, I would dread to think how many coats you would need to make it opaque.  I layered it over Ulta3's Soft Hydrangea, which is a gorgeous pastel blue.

The two colours are a perfect match.  I don't want to take it off, so glad I grabbed 2 bottles!  Can't wait to try layering it over different colours.  :)

Dexter blood splatter nails

Yay, I'm so excited!  The new season of Dexter starts soon, and I cannot wait!  To celebrate, I have done a blood splatter mani.  My first attempt at this style, and while clean up was a bitch (I forgot to tape off my fingers lol), I am loving the look of it.  Will definitely do it again.
I just used a straw.   Put a few blobs of polish onto a plastic plate, dip the end of straw into polish until it covered the hole then blow onto the nail.   I learnt quickly to just use short, hard blows otherwise I just ended up blowing the nail polish into big blobs..  lol  There is heaps of tutorials on YouTube.

The red polish is Butter Londons Pillar Box Red, which I got for free with this months issue of Instyle magazine for all you Aussie ladies.  :)
The white is Ulta3's Lily White, and its your typical white, streaky polish.  Doubt I will use it for other than nail art, but it was only $2 so can't complain.
Tomorrow starts the beginning of No Buy October.. I am getting out of control with my buying and untrieds, so I am hoping this will help me get through  of them.  Tomorrow is also the start of the Halloween Challenge, link to join up is n the post below.    :)

Panda nails & early Pink Wednesday

Hey all!
I'm so excited for today!  My hubby and I are big gamers, and today the World of Warcraft expansion, Mist of Pandaria, is being released.  We get to be big bouncy pandas!  Yay!
So in honour of that, today I have panda nails.  This is the first time I have ever attempted anything like this, and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, wonky eyes and all.  ;)
I used a video tutorial I found on YouTube, you can view it here.

I did the pandas using Ulta3's Lily White, Sinfuls Black on Black, and dotting tools.  Super easy!  On my other nails are 2 coats of Ulta3's French Pink, and 2 coats of Revlons Popular.  I plan on leaving this mani on for long as possible, so these are also my Pink Wednesday nails.
:)

I heart Essie & Ulta3!

Conversation between me and my hubby today..
Me: Ooh look at all the nail polishes in the Ulta3 bin!  And only $2 each!
Hubby:  *sigh*
Me:   What? I'm just going to look....... ooh this colours lovely, wow look at the shimmer in this one, oh this ones weird, I like it...
Hubby:  Well you have $10 cash, buy 5.
Me:  You're an enabler.. but ok, if you insist.

haha!   I didn't need much convincing did I?  ;)
Anyway, here are the 5 I chose...

For some reason I went for all the pinks.  The 2nd from the end on the right is Twilight Fever.. an unusual brown, purple mix.  Oh and the one on the far right is Golden Twilight.. my friend bought it from Avon and didn't like, so of course she thought of me!  It looks black but then has a lovely gold shimmer through it.  Can't wait to try it.

On my nails today I have Essies Smooth Sailing, a lovely blue.  On the Essie website they describe it as 'a breezy lavender blue with a reflection of pearl'.  I really do like it, the pearl is quite subtle.

On my pinkie is Essies Luxe Effects Stroke Of Brilliance.  It just came in the mail and I couldn't wait to try it.  lol  Excuse the cuts and dents on my fingers, I dropped a bbq hood on them.. ouch!
