day 6..

and I don't know how much longer i can stand it!  My hair is so horrible.. I have taken to wearing baseball caps when I pick up son from school!  I haven't worn hats in years.  I actually have to dye my roots tomorrow, as my grey roots are really starting to come in, so I'm really hoping that doesn't take me back to day 1.

Patience... I must have patience.

day 3...

of no 'poo, and omg!  I cannot stand my own head!  I'm not even going to include a pic its so gross.  I am going to do my first BS wash, and ACV rinse tomorrow morning, so hopefully that will make it feel a bit better.   Will include a pic of that tomorrow.

To try to take my mind off the grossness that is my own head, i made some yummy scones from a 3 ingredient recipe i found online.  They were so easy to make, and yummy! Here is a pic.. they always turn out so lopsided.. lol

Recipe..

Makes 12

4 cups self raising/rising flour, sifted
1 & 1/4 cups (300ml) cream (lite cream works)
11 oz or (250ml) lemonade

Sift self raising/rising flour into a bowl, make a well and pour in cream and lemonade. Mix to make a dough, roll out and cut with a scone cutter. Arrange closely together on a paper lined (parchment paper) baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 220C or 425F oven until golden brown (approx) 12 mins.

Serve warm with a little butter or with a lovely dollop of cream and jam (jelly in the USA).I personally enjoy every now and then a little golden syrup and clotted cream (a very English cream) it's called thunder and lightning!!

Tip: Do NOT overwork the dough and use a very cold butter knife or cutters when cutting the dough. The less you work the dough the better it will be.

Recipe from 4 Ingredients.

First day...

Of the no 'poo experiment and already my hair is gross! I have to wash my hair every day so i was expecting it, but still... yuck! I have taken a pic so you can see.. it still looks shiny though. I also bought a 100% natural boar bristle brush as that is supposed to move the oils from the scalp and along the hair to the ends. The bristles are quite soft though and don't seem to get through my hair to the scalp... will keep trying though. I have read can get the brushes with reinforced bristles so maybe will look for one of them. As gross as my hair is now i'm still excited to be doing something that will hopefully help my hair, plus no more plastic bottles everywhere!   :-)

No 'poo!

So has anyone heard about the "no 'poo" craze?  I have been reading quite alot about it online, and i think i am ready to try it!  The idea is basically, that you don't wash you hair with 'commercial' shampoos and conditioners. Instead you use all natural products you can find in your home.. like baking soda, apple cider vinegar (ACV) and lemon juice. Its supposed to be amazing for your hair.  Now as someone who has to wash their hair everyday (otherwise you could fry egss in it.. bleech)  the idea of not using shampoo and getting that soapy sudsy clean is quite scary!  But I am determined to try it.  So at the end of this week.. once i have used up my super fancy shampoo, I am going to go no 'poo!
I do have an ulterior motive to waiting until the end of this week.. my son doesn't have school for 4 days, so i can hide in the house for the first few days of it.  ;)
If you would like to read up a bit more about it, and see if its something you would like to try, just go here.
I will post of pic of my hair on the first day, and every few days afterwards.  Wish me luck.  :)
